The Congolese military said Thursday that its operations against Hutu rebels in eastern Congo would continue after Rwanda pulled its forces out at the end of the month. Rwandan troops entered the country in late January in a joint operation with Congolese forces to flush out perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan genocide hiding there. For over a decade the two countries have accused each other of supporting proxy elements in mineral-rich North Kivu Province.
