A United Nations tribunal convicted the former governor of Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, on Tuesday for his role in the Rwandan genocide. The former governor, Tharcisse Renzaho, 65, was found guilty of five counts, including rape, assassination and genocide, and sentenced to life by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, based in Tanzania. He oversaw the police, local militia and construction of roadblocks aimed at trapping and killing Tutsi who crossed them.
